- What is an endodontist?
An endodontist is a root canal therapy specialist, whose practice is limited to only root canal treatment. After undergraduate science training and four years of dental school, an additional two or three years of intensive specialty training are required in order that he or she may perform all aspects of endodontic therapy.
- What experience and education do endodontists have?
Endodontists become specialists by completing two or more years of advanced training in endodontics, in addition to dental school.

- What do I need to know before an appointment?
This will depend on the type of procedure that you are undergoing. Your dentist will let you know ahead of your procedure what you need to do to prepare. However, no matter what procedure you undergo with us, you can trust our team to care for your needs, answer all your questions, and do their best to put you at ease before your appointment.
- How long do endodontic procedures take?
This depends on the type of treatment you need, and the nature and severity of your complaint. Your endodontist will provide you with an estimate for the duration of your procedure ahead of your appointment.
- I am experiencing pain in my face, jaw or neck. Can an endodontist help?
Yes. Endodontists are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of facial and oral pain. If you are experiencing pain on your oral cavity or the surrounding structures, our endodontists will be able to help you pin point the problem, and offer solutions.
- I am nervous about my procedure, can DMD Endodontics & Microsurgery help with that?
If you are feeling nervous about an upcoming procedure, please tell us! Our friendly and compassionate endodontists would be happy to answer all your questions, and put your worries to rest. In addition, we provide treatment under sedation, so if you're feeling very anxious, we can discuss sedation options with you.
- Do I need to take time off work?
If you are undergoing a procedure that involves sedation or anaesthesia, it's a good idea to take the rest of the day off of work so that you have time to recover.
- Will I be able to eat the same foods after my procedure?
Immediately after your procedure, there may be some foods that you'll have to avoid eating. However, once you have recovered, you will be able to go back to eating your regular diet.
- What will my teeth look like after treatment?
Your tooth will look as it did before, and possibly better. It will be necessary for you to see your dentist to have a permanent filling placed or a cap (crown) made for the tooth. Your dentist will assist you in choosing the most suitable kind of restoration.
